Choosing an outfit for a photoshoot is about more than just "looking good." It’s about understanding how colors interact with light, your skin tone, and the environment. You want to look back at these photos in twenty years and see you, not a trendy outfit that didn't quite work.

Step 1: Find Your Personal Palette

Before picking a dress or a suit, you need to understand your skin’s undertone.

  • Cool Undertones: If your veins look blue/purple and you look better in silver jewelry, you have cool undertones. Your "power colors" are emerald greens, deep navies, royal purples, and crisp whites.

  • Warm Undertones: If your veins look greenish and gold jewelry makes your skin "pop," you are warm-toned. Lean into earthy colors: terracotta, mustard yellow, olive green, and warm creams.

  • Neutral: If you’re a mix of both, lucky you! You can pull off almost anything, though muted "dusty" versions of any color usually look best on camera.

Step 2: The Environment is Your Canvas

Your outfit should never fight with the background. We want you to stand out, not blend in or clash.

  • The Nature Backdrop: If we’re shooting in a lush, green park, avoid bright green outfits. You’ll look like a floating head in a sea of leaves. Instead, go for a complementary color like a soft rust or a deep plum.

  • The Urban Setting: For city streets with grey concrete and brick, bold primary colors (like a classic red dress or a sharp blue blazer) create a high-fashion, editorial look.

  • The Beach/Desert: Neutral, light tones like beige, sage, and cream work beautifully with the soft, reflective light of the sand and water.

Step 3: Texture Over Patterns

While a small floral print can be lovely, large, distracting patterns can "vibrate" on digital sensors and take the focus away from your face. Instead of busy patterns, look for texture. Think chunky knits, lace, linen, or leather. Texture adds depth to a photo without being distracting. It catches the light in different ways and adds a "premium" feel to your images.

Step 4: The Rule of Coordination (Not Matching)

The days of everyone wearing white t-shirts and jeans are over. For group or couple shots, aim to coordinate. Pick a color palette of 3-4 colors and mix-and-match them. If one person is wearing a patterned dress, the other should wear a solid color found within that pattern. This creates a cohesive "story" without looking like a uniform.

journey

What does a typical session include?

Every package includes a vision board, wardrobe discussions, scenic options, and a clear set of deliverables.

How quickly will I get my photos?

Typical turnaround time is 3-4 weeks. We love sharing in your excitement, so we aim to provide a tease within 2-3 days. We take a holistic approach where communication serves as the bedrock of our client relationship. This means that if we complete post production ahead of schedule, we will deliver your session early.

What sets you apart?

Most photographers treat each session like a checklist - same posses, same filters, same photo presets. We believe that your photos should be as unique as you are, we ensure that every photo session is one-of-a-kind.

How many photos do I get?

Traditionally, photo packages include a set number of photos. We consider this highly inefficient, if you take 50 great photos, why should we make you choose between 10? Instead of giving you a cap, we will give you a minimum. This empowers our clients to expect a minimum number of photos where you look your best!
